Cheers, 2015: vArmour Year in Review

This year has been groundbreaking for vArmour—filled with product launches, new board member and executive appointments, as well as customer growth and strategic partnerships. We are thrilled by our achievements and grateful for recognition from across the industry, including being named one of the top 10 coolest security startup of 2015 by CRN and coverage in major news publications from Fox to CNBC, that are a testament to our mission to redefine security in the multi-cloud world. In anticipation of what’s to come next year, here’s a quick recap of our 2015.

We had the pleasure of adding top technical and operations talent to our executive team. Marc Woolward joined our team as CTO; Dean Hickman-Smith joined the company as senior vice president of field operations; Demetrios (Laz) Lazarikos was appointed our CISO; Zhiping Liu was named head of threat security engineering; Mark Weatherford came to us as SVP, chief cybersecurity strategist; and Dr. Matt Williamson joined us as chief threat defense scientist.

We also brought on Aetna EVP of Operations and Technology Meg McCarthy and Former Cisco President and COO Gary Moore to our board in November. And most importantly, we continued to grow our global customer base - adding three of the world’s top 10 largest banks and five of the world’s top 10 largest telecom service providers as well as leading government agencies, healthcare providers, retailers, and more.

We launched vArmour DSS-V — the free edition of our distributed security system — to allow all organizations to visualize their data center traffic to identify suspicious behaviors and take the first step to detect and take action against laterally moving threats.

We also added vArmour DSS SharedDefense, so vArmour DSS is now continually updated with our global view of security events, behavioral anomalies, and laterally moving threats inside customer environments. Federated detection logic is hugely important to outsmart attackers across industries, and vArmour SharedDefense enables early detection and prevention of these types of multi-cloud attacks.

We joined forces with Nutanix and became a member of the Nutanix Elevate Technology Alliance program to offer workload-level security to on-demand private clouds running on Nutanix. vArmour DSS achieved VMware’s highest level of endorsement and joined VMware’s Solution Exchange. We also teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to extend vArmour DSS to AWS environments, as part of the AWS shared responsibility security model.

We kicked off 2015 with the launch of vArmour Invited Partners (VIP), which enables solution and service partners to help customers protect their data through our new, distributed approach to security. Top global channel partners of the VIP program include: Atos, Big Technology, EVT, and more.

And we wrapped up 2015 with the launch of the industry-wide Multi-Cloud Security Architecture (MCSA), a vendor-agnostic framework for securing hybrid cloud infrastructure that will drive the vision for multi-cloud security today and into the future. In tandem, we launched the vArmour Alliance Partner Program, which brings together an ecosystem of cloud infrastructure and security technology partners that share the common vision for the MCSA. vArmour Alliance Partners include: Backblaze, BrightPoint Security, Centrify, Nuage Networks, Nutanix, RiskIQ, Synack and VMTurbo.

2015 was a year for the books, and we’d like to give a huge shout-out and thank you to all those who helped contribute to our momentous year. Cheers to 2015, and welcome 2016!
